This small, intentional housing program in Oakland is designed for mothers living with one child who are seeking stability, structure, and a supportive community as they level up.

This is not emergency or crisis housing.It is a shared living environment with clear expectations, house standards, and mutual care.

This home is best suited for:

• Mothers living with one child

• Employed or with stable income

• Child age: 18 months through approximately 8–10 years

• High-functioning women seeking a calm, respectful, and community-oriented home

Our shared community works best when everyone helps create a calm, respectful, and supportive environment.

All residents are expected to:

• Communicate directly and respectfully with others

• Participate in house meetings and help shape the household

• Help care for the shared space and keep the home clean and safe

• Follow house rules and community expectations

• Take full responsibility for their own children, including supervision and behavior, while being mindful of others in the home

• Be open to feedback, and willing to listen, problem-solve, and show empathy

We believe in second chances. We welcome applicants with past challenges, as long as they’re committed to stability, structure, and moving forward.

Eligibility & Screening Guidelines:

• Substance use: Not permitted in the home

• Background friendly: Applicants with records OK (no sex offenses)

• Mental health: Must be stable enough to live safely in shared housing (no severe or untreated needs)

• Domestic violence: Active DV situations are reviewed case-by-case for safety

• Income: Residents must show income and/or subsidy so rent is about 60% or less of monthly income

This program is currently located in a quiet neighborhood just south of Lake Merritt, set up to be secure and comfortable.

Pricing (some subsidies available)

• Monthly rate: $1,200 per room + $200 for a child

• Security deposit (refundable): $500

• Utilities: $100/month

• If it seems like a fit, we’ll schedule a tour (and meet mom and children).

• Complete the application. We’ll request proof of income/subsidy and two references.

• If approved and move-in funds are available, we’ll confirm move-in.

• If no room is open, eligible applicants are added to the waitlist.
