WHAT’S IT LIKE TO LIVE AT RISING TIDE?

Rising Tide is community living — a place where people build community, share space, and help one another succeed. It’s more than just a place to live: it’s a built-in support system where respect, communication, and cooperation make the household feel like home.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Flexible room options. We offer private, furnished rooms with private bathrooms for those who want extra space and privacy. For a more economical but still comfortable choice, we also offer shared bedrooms (with one other person) and shared bathrooms.

  • All-inclusive living. Utilities, Wi-Fi, and household essentials are included, and inviting common spaces inside and out make it easy to connect or unwind.

  • Safety and support. Our gated property and on-site house manager provide added security and help keep things running smoothly.

  • Collaborative community. Residents practice compassionate, direct communication to solve problems and find solutions together. Everyone does their part to keep the home clean, welcoming, and harmonious.

  • Shared responsibility. House Rules keep everyone on the same page and ensure that resources are respected and the community thrives.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO LIVE AT RISING TIDE?

Rising Tide is open to anyone who’s ready to live in community and contribute to a stable, supportive household. You can apply on your own or — if you’re connected to a social service agency — through a referral from a case manager. A referral is helpful but not required.

We are “second chance” housing — we don’t disqualify anyone for prior evictions, criminal history, or credit challenges. What matters most is that you can reliably pay rent and that you’re ready to participate in a cooperative living environment.

Here’s what we look for:

  • Financial readiness. Rent should not exceed about 70% of your monthly income. This higher percentage is possible because all utilities and household costs are included. We accept self-pay, subsidies (such as SSI/SSDI), and payments from charitable organizations. If you receive subsidies, we may ask that your rent be paid directly to us by the payer.

  • Collaborative mindset. Residents should be able to participate actively in community life — communicating clearly, resolving conflicts constructively, and contributing to shared responsibilities.

  • Daily independence. While this is not a clinical or assisted-living environment, residents are expected to manage their own routines, meals, and personal care.

READY TO APPLY?

We’d love to hear from you! Here’s how the process works:

  1. Apply online. Fill out our short application with some basic information. We’ll ask about income or funding although we do not run credit checks. If you have a case manager (not required), you can loop them into this step.

  2. Tour and interview. We’ll invite you to visit, meet our team, and make sure Rising Tide is a good fit for you.

  3. Secure your spot. Residents must provide the first month’s rent and a security deposit before move-in. If you need help, we’ve compiled a list of programs that provide rental assistance — though it can take 4–6 weeks to process.

  4. Move in and join the community. Once approved and we have an opening, we’ll welcome you home and complete your intake process.
